Subha Barry

Diversity & Inclusion Expert, Board Chair, Cancer Institute of New Jersey

Subha Barry is an Expert Advisor on Multicultural Marketing, Diversity, Inclusion and Human Capital issues. She is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University, serves as a specialized expert and consultant on the GLG Research platform and serves on numerous non-profit Boards including Rutgers University, Rice University’s Business School and Princeton Hospital. She is Board Chair of the Director’s Advisory Council of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
Subha was a Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) at Freddie Mac where she reported to the CEO and served on the firm’s management committee. Under her leadership, the firm launched the Executive Diversity Council, created customized Divisional diversity plans, launched an Autism Internship, built a Women’s Cohort and structured the Employee Networks to align with organizational priorities. Previously, Subha was at Merrill Lynch for twenty years, the first sixteen as a highly successful Financial Advisor, Branch Manager and Head of Multicultural Business Development and the last five as Managing Director and Global CDO. As Head of Multicultural Business Development, she built a global virtual team that delivered over $8 billion in assets and $45 million in revenues within 3 years across markets that included a focus on Women, South Asians, Hispanics, African Americans, Native Americans, Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender individuals, and People with visible and invisible Disabilities.
Subha actively mentors women in her industry and her community and has been recognized for her leadership and accomplishments. A multiple time cancer survivor, she coaches newly diagnosed patients on managing their illness while working and family-work balance. She is married and has two children. She lives in Princeton, New Jersey.
